Fazioli Pianoforti

Season 2017 - 2018

Concert Season 2017/2018

The 13th Fazioli Concert Hall series firmly and bravely develops some of the purposes we have long been nurturing. First and foremost, the aim of giving always more room to the rising stars of the international concert scene.
One of the privileges we are granted thanks to the activity of Fazioli Pianoforti, is being constantly in contact with music professionals, festivals and international piano competitions. This brings us to meet new artists, some of whom, often very young, strike us with their exceptional technique and outstanding interpretative and communicative skills, to the point of wanting to share these “nice surprises” with our audience.

However, we haven’t failed to adorn our concert season with some of the greatest stars in the piano firmament. One of these is the phenomenal Italian pianist Beatrice Rana, who will have the task of pulling back the curtain, thus fulfilling our dream of having her back in Sacile for a solo recital. Just like her, Federico Colli from Brescia has been named by the British magazine International Piano among “the thirty pianists under 30” who will most certainly dominate the international music scene in the years to come. Next to them shines another already established concert pianist, Antonii Baryshevsky, winner of the 2014 Rubinstein Competition in Tel Aviv and one of the most followed pianists by the international press.

Parallel to the path outlined by these three stars representing a generation of young pianists already “consecrated” by the media, we meet names of celebrated musicians who, with good reason, have already earned their place in the history of musical performance. Let’s start with the comeback to our Fazioli Concert Hall of the brilliant Olli Mustonen, this time in Duo with the likewise non-conventional cellist Steven Isserlis and, nearly twelve years later, the return of the great François-Joël Thiollier, who will close the series with his refined and multi-faceted reinterpretation of the different “Temperaments” by Claude Debussy. Finally, we could not help hosting the concert celebrating the sixty years of activity of the Bruno-Canino and Antonio Ballista Duo who, as highlighted by Piero Rattalino, represents a real “milestone in the music of the 20th century”.

Now, let’s take a closer look at the curious “news” featuring in this 13th season; Yevgeny Yontov, winner of the “Best Israeli Pianist” and “Best Chamber Music Performance” prizes at the Rubinstein Competition in Tel Aviv in May 2017, has been invited to perform with the Adorno Quartet, ensemble born within the "Scuola di Musica di Fiesole". The Duo made up of the sisters Maria and Nathalia Milstein lands in Sacile with a most refined programme for violin and piano. Of French nationality and Russian origin, we met them “separately”, the one on the occasion of a CD recording, the other at the various international competitions where she distinguished herself among the many talented contestants. The 23-year-old Kenneth Broberg from the Unites States has caught media attention thanks to the silver medal won at the Van Cliburn in June 2017. However, our invitation dates back to the previous year, when he was a finalist of the Sydney International Piano Competition. Finally, representing the Rising Sun, our stage will also host the Piano Duo of the two Chinese Ming Xie and Jianing Kong who, from the Sichuan Conservatory of Chengdu and from the Province of Goungdong respectively, landed at the Juilliard School in New York the one and at the Royal College of Music in London the other, standing out for their incredible talent and great determination, which allowed them to distinguish themselves always more in the complex and extremely competitive piano scene.

In such a rich mosaic, the challenge of shaping a programme that is up to the expectations of an always more attentive and demanding audience becomes more and more enthralling. Our wish is that every listenerwill find their “own” emotionally unforgettable moment in our season programme, according to their respective perceptions and sensitivities.
