XXX Concorso Pianistico Internazionale "Ettore Pozzoli"

The 30th edition of the “Ettore Pozzoli” International Piano Competition took place in Seregno from September, 26th to October, 3rd.
It was founded in 1959 by Gina Gambini, wife of the pianist and professor Ettore Pozzoli, and by the journalist and music critic Giulio Confalonieri, to support to young piano talents.
Thirty-one pianists coming from eleven countries took part in the competition and was judged thorough the various rounds by a jury chaired by Dmitri Bashkirov, piano professor at the Tchaikovsky Conservatory in Moscow, and made up of M° Vincenzo Balzani, Barbara Tolomelli, Roberto Cappello, Nora Doallo, Tang Jin and Albert Mamriev.
The official presentation of the competition took place on Sunday, September 17th at Piazza Gae Aulenti in Milan and also featured a musical marathon with the students of the Conservatories of Milan and Como.
What’s more, during the whole competition, squares and courtyards of the historic centre of Seregno turned into open-air stages for the series of musical events called “Oltre il Pozzoli” (“Beyond the Pozzoli”).
Another event worth highlighting is the concert by M° Claudia Termini and M° Riccardo Risaliti which took place on Thursday, October 28th (9 pm) at the Basilica di San Giuseppe.

The competition took place at the Auditorium at Piazza Risorgimento in Seregno, with open rounds, to end on October 3rd with the final at Teatro San Rocco withi a second ex aequo Prize awarded to the Russian Elizaveta Kliuchereva and the Italian Axel Trolese. The Third Prize was awarded to 14-year-old Japanese pianist Yagi Daisuke.
